Kenneth Branagh thought it good enough to be in it. My daughters and I have watched this wonderful film several times. Three girls escape and embark on a 1500 mile walk back to their parents. It kept me tied to my seat, and the performances of every single actor and actress were marvelous-- including the children, who were absolutely stellar. It is a beautiful but tragic story of adventure and resolve, but also of institutionalised racism dressed up as misguided compassion.
