"Bush Christmas" is the least gritty of the four films but the most believable and the least manipulative.

8 of 11 people found this review helpful. The farmer's kids and their friends, a visiting English boy and an Aborigine boy named Neza, take off after the horse thieves themselves. Don't be scared away by the title, "Bush Christmas" (1947) has nothing to do with George W. or his father. The other two are Michael, an English boy staying with the Thompsons, and Neza, an Australian black who is the son of one of Mr. Thompson's stock men. "A Far Off Place" (1993) and "Alaska" (1996) also appropriated many elements of the story.
Later, the children tell Mrs. Thompson they're going camping. I first saw this film back in 1990 (we still have the VHS tape we recorded it on back then) and although I'm now 13 years older the film still makes for an enjoyable viewing.Looking for something to watch?
