Jack Reynor gives an admirable understated performance as the handsome rugby-playing alpha male protagonist whose misjudged split-second decision is at the heart of the film, the aftermath of which not only involves the participants in the dreadful act but also members of the immediate community.
The film itself was long and drawn out, a bit boring, and you are left dangling.

A deceptive, devastatingly brutal and honest film which is well worth seeking out and well worth staying with. The movie is often slow-paced, but will play with your emotions at various times. What Richard Did is a striking portrait of the fall of a Dublin golden-boy and high school rugby star whose world unravels one summer night. Despite the intriguing title succeeding in its job of attracting my attention, the film’s storytelling is far from conventional. Unfortunately it is on the beach outside Dublin, so no need for the Factor 30 here but possible need for `wind smear', `drizzle cream' or `gloom juice'.

Richard is a popular HS graduate with a bright future, lots of friends and a beautiful girlfriend. Only spiritual human beings will find this movie an incredible piece of cinema because we're talking about a non-commercial masterpiece. A superb and unnerving portrait of an event that could happen to any young man in the heatof the moment
