In a previous life Bayliss was a dancer. I didn't want people to think that I wasn't capable when I'm capable, even though I manage an illness of sorts. "There's so many different symptoms with lupus, like I have things that have affected my organs whereas somebody else with a different kind of lupus might have joint pain or skin stuff, they might be extremely fatigued and not be able to go out that night.
Dancing was her life. "The whole thing that was driving me to keep fighting was, 'Well, I have to get out [of hospital], I'm a dancer, I need to finish my diploma…' I guess I kept fighting for that dream because I didn't have anything else — dancing was my life. ""Part of writing this book as well, now that I feel comfortable, has given me the opportunity to go back and do more things for the Red Cross and be able to talk about this more, and encourage people to donate blood because that is essentially what saved my life, curing the blood disease," she explained. While working as a dancer on the TV series "It wasn't something that I ever really dreamt of doing but once I started it, I realised there was another creative path that I love as much as dancing. But to be told that as a teenager is heartbreaking because I had been doing it since I was three and I had given up everything to do that. You might recognise her from TV Week Logie Award nominated drama Doctor Doctor which is now filming its fourth season. I think within that first year I got a couple of jobs that were quite significant and that was when I went, I'd love to really pursue this a bit more. But in a way I was detached, so I was kind of sad for the girl I was writing about. "I never set out to do this book to make money or do any of that, it was just get it to the right people, because I didn't have that help when I was 17 and I found that very difficult. I think when somebody has lupus you have to listen and try to have an understanding of what that person might be going through. "I found that I was very alone in those really hard times because there was nobody else that was going through anything similar that I could turn to or read a story that was like this, so hopefully it gets to those people.
